The Last of Us Gets Season 2 Release Window, Plus First Look at It Prequel Footage and More

The trailer reveals our first look at Welcome to Derry (which is a working title), a prequel series to Warner Bros.’ wildly popular It films. The director of those films, Andy Muschietti, is directing and producing, with co-writer Jason Fuchs showrunning. As we can tell from the images, this is set likely in 1961, which would be in line with the rules of Pennywise. What would a show about superhero movies look like from the man behind Veep? We’ll find out in 2024 when The Franchise comes to HBO. We get our first look at characters played by Marvel Studios actor Daniel Brühl and Game Night’s Billy Magnussen. It’s at :59 into the trailer. Read more here.

Our first official sequel to The Batman won’t be Part II, it’ll be this show featuring the return of Colin Farrell as the would-be Gotham City supervillain. The story takes place after the movie and will continue to chart the character’s rise in the crime-filled city. We’ve already seen some teases, but there’s more at 1:21 in the trailer. Since we’ve already seen a full trailer for House of the Dragon season two, there isn’t much more to say, but it’s certainly the genre highlight of HBO’s 2024 offerings.

As filming hasn’t begun yet, The Last of Us season two doesn’t have any new footage in the trailer. But everyone involved has been prepping for months, and Pedro Pascal fitting other projects around this has been a topic of discussion, so it’s only a matter of time. Read more here.
