After much teasing earlier this year, Netflix and Dwarf Studios’ stop motion series set in the world of Pokémon is finally ready to open its doors to the world—and it looks so adorable you might just want to reach through your screen and hug every Pokémon you can see.
The first full trailer for Pokémon Concierge introduces us to Haru (Karen Fukuhara in the English dub, and Rena Nounen in Japanese), a young woman who becomes a concierge at a Pokémon Resort, finding herself spreading relaxation and cheer not just to the hotel’s human visitors, but their partner Pokémon and the wild creatures that call its island locale home.
The vibe is very different from the typical action battling of prior Pokémon adaptations, with an aesthetic to match—it’s very much in the vein of Dwarf’s excellent work on Rilakkuma and Kaoru, and the Pokémon almost look less like actual animals and more like plush toys come to life. It’s a really fun and unique take on the series—slice of life with adorable Pokémon? Sold.
Pokemon Concierge is set to hit Netflix at the end of the year, on December 28.
